Two security officers were seriously injured during a violent cash-in-transit robbery in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, on Wednesday, 18 February, leaving the community in shock and authorities scrambling to secure evidence and apprehend the perpetrators. The attack left a cash vehicle heavily damaged and a Mercedes-Benz ablaze at the scene, marking yet another violent incident in Gauteng’s growing list of cash-in-transit heists.

According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, police were dispatched to the intersection of Khosa and Sekhukhune Street after receiving reports of the robbery. Upon arrival, they encountered a chaotic scene: a white Mercedes-Benz completely engulfed in flames and a cash-in-transit vehicle damaged on one side. Emergency services immediately assisted the victims and secured the perimeter while the investigation began.
