In a shocking incident that unfolded in Mountview, KwaZulu-Natal, a 24-year-old man was killed by a mob after allegedly stabbing his 61-year-old grandmother during a domestic dispute. The violent attack, which occurred on Monday morning, was reportedly fueled by the community’s outrage over the man’s repeated abusive behavior and his latest violent act.
The incident first came to light on Sunday afternoon when Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers were dispatched to a home on Jackaranda Avenue at approximately 16:21. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the suspect had stabbed his grandmother in the neck during an argument. It is believed that the altercation was sparked by the suspect demanding money, allegedly to purchase drugs. The elderly woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.According to reports, the community had long been aware of the man’s violent tendencies and his history of abuse toward his grandmother. Tensions finally reached a boiling point on Monday morning when a group of around 50 community members apprehended the suspect. They tied his hands and legs with rope before severely beating him with sticks and whips. The attack resulted in the man’s death before emergency responders could arrive.RUSA’s Operations Centre received a call at approximately 06:14 from a concerned resident who reported the mob attack. By the time officers reached the scene, the man had already succumbed to his injuries. The brutal nature of the assault and the sheer number of people involved highlight the deep-rooted frustration and anger within the community regarding the suspect’s alleged behavior.
